Gallatin Valley Farm to School is getting creative about ways to keep kids and families connected to local food in our community.
With many schools in the Gallatin Valley moving to partial weeks of in-person learning, we see two critical needs right now:
1. A significant number of families are struggling to find and afford childcare on days when school is not in session
2. Many academic subjects are not going to receive the needed attention
Our scholarship fund is working to address both of these needs and YOU can be a part of it.
This fall we are holding 6 four-week (e.g. every Tuesday for four weeks) program sessions focused on nutrition, gardening, cooking, agriculture, and environmental science. The scholarship fund will provide 72 no-cost scholarship spots to children who may have nowhere else to go on days off during the school week. To make sure we're reaching families who are in the most need of educational programming and childcare, we are partnering with Thrive to help us fill these scholarship spaces.
Each $300 you donate provides a scholarship for one student to participate in a four-week program. And $900 sponsors them for the entire fall. Every gift makes a difference to children and families in need during this already difficult time. Thank you.
